CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe is optimistic that issues that were affecting the club were corrected last week and expects the Green Machine family to pull into one direction going forward.
Makepekepe, who have not won since May 6 when they beat Yadah 1-0, host GreenFuel at Bata this afternoon. But, in five matches they have lost thrice and drawn twice.
Speaking during a press conference this week, the gaffer called for positive input from his team. Chitembwe did not fully disclose what is going on behind the scenes at the club but said he was exonerating his players.
After the defeat against Bulawayo Chiefs, Chitembwe showed frustration and threatened to walk away.
“I have already exonerated my players; they are not part of this. At the same time, I don’t think it’s something that I can talk about, especially on this platform. Those that have been with the club for a while I am sure are in a very good position to understand what I am talking about.
“CAPS being CAPS is not just an ordinary side, there are so many people involved in terms of making sure the club is where it is today.”There are a lot of influencers within the football club who really want the club to move in a certain direction, but what is more important is for everyone to see things in the same way and try and push in one direction and not obviously to attract negative attention.
“It is in recent times where I have noticed some negative energy and I am quite certain that last week it was obviously the right time to make sure everything had been corrected,” said Chitembwe.
The coach said his players are playing well but results remain elusive.
CAPS United skipper Tonderai Mateyaunga added that he hopes luck will be on their side against Green Fuel.
“The message has always been the same, the expectations are always the same. Like what the coach was saying, the team has been playing well but a win has been eluding us in all the games that we have played. I hope that in this game against Green Fuel luck will come on our side,” said Mateyaunga.
