Chitungwiza Mayor, Councillor Rosaria Mangoma, said the fight against sewer challenges will be won once Chitungwiza has its own water source and treatment plant.

Speaking at the 2026 / 2030 Strategic Planning Workshop at Chinhoyi University of Technology Hotel, Cllr Mangoma said Chitungwiza Municipality has already appealed to the Government and is optimistic of improved supply when the Kunzvi Dam is completed next year.

“Let me take this moment to commend you all for your efforts from 2021 to 2025- especially in 2024 and 2025 when we made great progress in replacing old sewer pipes,” she said.

“It has not been easy, but your commitment despite limited resources is commendable. As we deliberate, let us also think about reviving our sports facilities, attracting investors and bringing universities to Chitungwiza.

“Let our discussions be guided by the masterplan, the Local Environmental Action Plan and other key documents. Together, let us create a roadmap that builds a prosperous, inclusive and smart Chitungwiza.”
