celebrations, chief executive officer Dr Obadiah Moyo said computerisation would improve the management of patients’ information.
He said the hospital services a high number of patients whose records needed to be properly stored for easy reference.
“There is total computerisation of the hospital going on as we speak and a training programme for the staffers has already begun,” said Dr Moyo.
“We are working in conjunction with Twenty Third Century Systems to have a digitalised hospital’’.
Dr Moyo said the hospital faced many challenges, but was managing to cope with help from the community and Government.
“The hospital gets drugs and support from Aids and TB global programmes initiated by the Government and a special TB clinic is open every Tuesday,” he said.
There have been many achievements since President Mugabe officially opened the hospital in 1986.
“The hospital started training certified nurses and maternity nurses, and more than 1 000 nurses graduated from the school,” Dr Moyo said.
The hospital was chosen for a pilot project for the 2012 e-Government programme.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations will last for a year with special events being held every month.
