CHITUNGWIZA Municipality is consulting residents, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other stakeholders to gather proposals for its 2027 budget.

Municipality spokesperson Mr Tafadzwa Kachiko said proposed projects include the construction of vending markets, a satellite clinic in Nyatsime and the establishment of the Utano drug rehabilitation day-care centre.

“Stakeholders welcomed the proposed projects and made additional recommendations on road rehabilitation, the provision of vending facilities and the inclusion of people with disabilities in the budget,” he said.

Mr Kachiko said Chitungwiza Pastors Fraternity representative Shepherd Matyora welcomed plans to rehabilitate Nyatsime Road but called for quality workmanship given the road’s heavy traffic.

Chitungwiza Residents and Ratepayers Association chairperson Arthur Taderera urged council to include Unit A among areas earmarked for vending markets to provide traders with designated trading spaces.

National Council of Disabled Persons of Zimbabwe representative Trymore Magwaza called for the proposed markets to accommodate people with disabilities.

Mr Kachiko said the consultations allowed stakeholders to identify priority service delivery and infrastructure projects for consideration in the 2027 municipal budget.
