ECCENTRIC Zifa benefactor Wicknell Chivayo yesterday vindicated Chronicle Sport by posting WhatsApp screenshots on his Facebook timeline confirming communication with Warriors’ captain Willard Katsande threatening to quit if Chivayo withdrew his national team sponsorship.
Katsande and Warriors’ teammates, Belgium-based Knowledge Musona, Czech Republic-based former AmaZulu strongman Costa Nhamoinesu as well as China-based Nyasha Mushekwi, all contacted Chivayo pleading with him not to terminate his relationship with Zifa.
Katsande avoided answering Chronicle Sport inquiries regarding the quit threats, but instead accused the publication of having an “agenda”.
However, Chivayo literally confirmed that the Warriors’ skipper indeed threatened to throw away his armband in protest.
“Boss if you stop looking after us, am going to resign with immediate effect. I never told anyone about our meeting, moreover you even said ots (lots) of secrets. Why would (I) expose those news (sic). I asked the report(er), he said I never said such news to him,” reads one of the screen shots by Katsande posted by Chivayo.
Mushekwi actually sent a letter via email to Chivayo, while Musona used WhatsApp pretending to be shocked by the developments.
