Fresh from a spectacular album launch that drew thousands of fans to the Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare, contemporary music superstar Jah Prayzah has received a lavish gift from businessman Wicknell Chivayo: a brand-new 2025 Range Rover Autobiography and US$150 000 in cash.
The gesture comes in recognition of Jah Prayzah’s artistic excellence and the overwhelming success of his new album Ndini Mukudzeyi, which was officially launched last Saturday to great fanfare.
In a tribute posted online, Chivayo described Jah Prayzah as “the GOAT” (Greatest of All Time), praising his ability to blend traditional Zimbabwean music with contemporary sound, uniting fans across generations and social backgrounds.
“There can only be one master of the craft, one exceptional talent, one phenomenal musician of our time. You have proven beyond doubt that you are, indeed, the greatest of our time,” wrote Chivayo.
Reflecting on Jah Prayzah’s musical journey, from early hits like Ndinotsvaga Mariah and Gochi Gochi to national anthems like Mdhara Vachauya and Kutonga Kwaro, Chivayo said he was proud of the artiste’s evolution and continued reinvention.
In honour of the album launch’s success, Chivayo instructed Jah Prayzah to collect the luxury SUV from Exquisite Motors, noting that the vehicle had been fully paid for. He also confirmed the cash gift of US$150 000.
“This is just a small token of my gratitude for your immense contribution to Zimbabwean music and your patriotism in uniting thousands of people through music, preaching peace, love, and unity in every song,” said Chivayo.
Jah Prayzah, who has since collected the generous gifts, was visibly beaming with joy.
Born Mukudzeyi Mukombe, Jah Prayzah is no stranger to accolades and has long been celebrated for his ability to fuse traditional sounds with modern styles. Backed by his Third Generation Band, Ndini Mukudzei is already being hailed by fans and critics alike as yet another career-defining project.
With this latest recognition from Chivayo, Jah Prayzah’s star continues to rise as he cements his legacy as one of Zimbabwe’s most influential and beloved musical figures.
