Chivi Rural District Council will set up a national development committee in the next two weeks to ensure the full implementation of the recently launched Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation.Mwenezi-Chivi Senator Cde Josaya Hungwe, who is also Minister of State for Liaising on Psychomotor Activities in Education and Vocational Training, said at a Press conference yesterday that the face of the drought-stricken district would change.

The committee would bring together prominent people from Chivi who are in various fields and others interested to assist in developmental programmes.

“We should not look to some other sources or other powers other than what comes from ourselves,” said Cde Hungwe.
Cde Hungwe said the mega Tokwe-Murkosi Dam should benefit people from Chivi first because its larger area was located in the district, with a small part being in Masvingo district.

Chivi Rural District Council chairperson Cde Killer Zivhu, whose council is spearheading the setting up of the development committee, said the idea was to fulfil the objectives of Zim-Asset through mobilising local resources.
