Chiwanza score big in Webster Shamu games

Tournament on Saturday at different venues in Chegutu West Constituency.
The football and netball tournament attracted 32 teams featuring 16 teams in each discipline and the games were played at Gadzema B/C, Wamica, Neuso B/C, Nyatsanga, M/Hartley, Emojeni B/C and Chiri Primary School.
Chiwanza beat Dombwe 5-1 at M/Hartley while Danangwe settled for a 1-1 draw against Chambara A to share the spoils.
Saruwe beat Toendepi B 2-0 in the other match and Chirinhengo thrashed Mukwasha 4-0 while Neuso defeated Kaguvi 3-2 in a tightly contested match.
Toendepi A drew 1-1 with Nyatsanga.
Chambara B won 2-1 against Murambe while Chikwangwadza defeated Nehanda 3-0.
In netball Danangwe collected maximum points when they beat Chambara A 6-0 while Toendepi B overpowered Saruwe 17-12.
However, it was a different story for Toendepi A as they were beaten 7-0 by Nyatsanga. Chirinhengo lost 15-25 Mukwasha while Kaguvi beat Neuso 8-5. Dombwe outclassed Chiwanza 22-9 and Chambara B 11-5 Murambe. Chikwangwadza beat Nehanda 7-0.
The project co-ordinator for Chegutu East Constituency Dananai Murwira said the tournament went on well.
“Everything went according to plan. The teams were prepared for the tournament and it was a close competition among the teams,” said Murwira.
The quarter-finals will be held on a later date.
