MANICALAND Province has recorded a five-day Cholera case-free streak, Provincial Medical Director, Dr Munyaradzi Mukuzunga, has said.
In an interview this afternoon, Dr Mukuzunga attributed the success to capacitated health workers and sensitised communities.
Of the 24 cases recorded over the past few weeks, 19 were confirmed, with Nyanga accounting for most of the cases and a single case from Chipinge.
Dr Mukuzunga praised the collaborative efforts of health workers and local traditional leaders in raising awareness about Cholera symptoms and prevention measures.
“We are happy that we have been able to contain Cholera for now. This highlights the importance of community engagement in tackling the outbreak. The province’s proactive approach has yielded positive results, offering hope for a Cholera-free Manicaland. With continued vigilance and awareness, we aim to keep the disease at bay,” he said.
