Chris Martin optimistic about Zim tour

“He said he is very excited to visit Zimbabwe because it has always been his dream to come here. We are optimistic he will deliver the best and add his name to the list of Jamaican musicians that have thrilled their local fans.”Organisers of Chris Martin’s tour have said the Jamaican musician is ecstatic about touring Zimbabwe and has promised a memorable show.Martin has saluted Zimbabweans for their support of Jamaican musicians over the years, adding he will give a good account of himself at Glamis Arena on April 29.

He is billed to share the stage with Jah Prayzah, Lipsy and Winky D.

“He (Martin) has promised an exceptional show and thanked Zimbabweans for rallying behind many Jamaican musicians that have toured the country.

“He said he is very excited to visit Zimbabwe because it has always been his dream to come here. We are optimistic he will deliver the best and add his name to the list of Jamaican musicians that have thrilled their local fans,” noted the organisers.

Martin has been outstanding on the international scene with his popular hits that have seen him touring various countries.

Martin became the first Digicel Rising Stars Alumni to have a hit single on the charts in Jamaica. Shortly after, he won the ‘Digicel Rising Stars’ title in 2005.

Among others, Christopher’s parents have been the source of his motivation in pursuing his musical ambitions.

“My parents and my peers at school really motivated me. They always said that I would be a star,” he told a Jamaican publication.

“I want every household across the world to know and love my music and where I come from.”

His debut releases include: “Nah Go Change”, “Take My Wings”, “Tonight”, “Giving It”, and “Gallis” featuring Busy Signal. He has worked with a number of top producers in the Reggae and Dancehall arena including Robert Livingston, Arif Cooper, Shane Brown and Christopher Birch.

Martin has performed on numerous stage shows across Jamaica and set a precedent for newcomers, when he was invited to perform at ‘One Night with Michael Bolton’ at the 2008 Air Jamaica Jazz Festival.

The year 2008 was productive for Martin as he was nominated for numerous awards including, “The Jamaica Observer Teenage Choice Awards” and “Excellence in Music and Entertainment”, an achievement which has secured permanence in his art.

With a slate of singles permeating drive-time radio and the Jamaican music charts, Martin is optimistic about his career in music, “It has been a wonderful journey so far, filled with new and promising encounters.

“It is also challenging but I love what I am doing, so it makes it that much easier.”

His other musical offerings include “Melody To My Song”, on the Good Love Rhythm, produced by Baby G, “She never listens” featuring Demarco produced by Star Kutt, “Watch me Lord” by Ariff Cooper on the Fresh Ear Label.

He has also done “Vibe is Right” on the Street Bullies Medley produced by Tony Kelly as well as “Real Friends” featuring Agent Sassco and D-Major by T J Records.
