Christ Embassy nurturing talent

PASTOR Chris Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy is on a drive to identify and nurture artistic talent within its members.

This has led to the awarding of excelling personnel to foster a spirit of worship in music. The church’s Thorngrove branch through its Loveworld Music & Arts Ministry initiative, has been hosting awards lately.

The church’s choir co-ordinator, Zwelitsha Gumbo said the awards are meant to encourage those who put effort in serving God.

“The awards are an acknowledgement of the effort and work which the Loveworld singers put in offering service to God through the avenue of music and arts,” said Gumbo.

The church has awarded the chorister of the year, best improved chorister, most disciplined singer, most consistent singer and most promising singer.

One of the winners in the awards ceremony held last year, Shawn Banda who bagged the Most Promising Singer Award said: “The award really means a lot to me. It encourages me to actually work more on my vocals and achieve the best quality sound.

From my point of view, an award is actually an achievement and a push encouraging me to do more,” said the gospel artiste who happens to be one half of the Christian Soldiers group.

The organisers said they are planning to add more categories. – @eMKlass_49
