CHIRUMANZU-ZIBAGWE legislator Cde Jacob Chokururama has brought cheer to villagers in Ward 15 after drilling them a borehole that they are also using to provide water for their livestock.

The borehole that was drilled at Kushinga Primary School is going to serve pupils and teachers at the school, including 15 self-contained plot holders who are into nutritional gardens. Cde Chokururama has facilitated the drilling of 10 boreholes, four of them solar-powered across the constituency.

The villagers commended Cde Chokururama for the gesture.

Mrs Gladys Matambo praised the legislator for bringing water to their doorsteps after the sinking and equipping the borehole in their area.

“As villagers, we commend the borehole sinking programme because with the availability of water, we are able to venture into market gardening and other income-generating programmes,” she said.

Mr David Sithole said: “We used to walk long distances to get clean water and it was not easy. We are proud of the efforts made to ensure that people have access to clean water, which will go a long way in alleviating our plight.”

Cde Chokururama said water provision is key in terms of uplifting standards of living in rural communities.

“Villagers from seven villages, those from self-contained plots are now getting water from a borehole, which we drilled at Kushinga Primary School. They will now be able to do nutritional gardens as well as provide water to their livestock,” he said.

Cde Chokururama also vowed to oversee the completion of projects initiated by the First Family to uplift livelihoods in the area.

Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe Constituency is home to President Mnangagwa’s Precabe Farm. The First Family has implemented several projects to improve livelihoods in the constituency and these include the construction of classroom blocks, clinics and borehole drilling among others.

The First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa was once an MP for the area.

“There are several projects that were spearheaded by the First Family in the constituency. I am there as their eyes in the constituency and my mandate is to initiate the President’s vision of uplifting the lives of the people in this area as they cannot be there full-time due to work commitments,” he said.
