ASHLEY Miller moved closer to her a dream of a sub 54 seconds 400m hurdles wh n she finished second in the Lone Star Grand Prix in Texas on Saturday.
Miller, a silver medalist in the 100m hurdles in Ghana last month, finished the distance in 54.08 seconds to set a new national record.
She held a previous mark of 55.09 seconds achieved at the Ed Murphey Classic last year.
On the closing day of the African Senior Track and Field Championships, Miller said after over 35 days away from training and taking part in 10 events in Botswana, Ghana, South Africa and the United States, she was happy to be returning to her American base. She declared that the aim was to run a 53 seconds 400m hurdles.
With it would come automatic qualification for the World Championships to be hosted by Beijing, China.
In Ghana Miller finished fourth in the 400m hurdles final.
