Swedish based company Assa Abloy’s subsidiary, Chubb Locks Union Zimbabwe, has been awarded a ZW468:1995 certification by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe for offering quality services to its customers. Assa Abloy Group is a Swedish lock manufacturer and is the world’s largest lock and door opening solutions manufacturer by sales volume.
Speaking at the presentation of the certificate Wednesday, Standards Association of Zimbabwe director-general Mrs Eve Gadzikwa said the company was efficient in its operations.
“SAZ recognises Chubb’s desire to provide world-class security material and development services to different industries,” she said.
Mrs Gadzikwa further said “ISO certification is undoubtedly a big achievement, not only for Chubb and associates but for the whole of the Zimbabwean domestic and industrial sector.”
She said the certification will ensure that Chubb pays particular attention and detail to customer requirements since it deals with international partners.
Assa Abloy Chub finance director Mr Clive Majoni said that the certification will go a long way in instilling client confidence.
“As the company expands and deals more and more with major multinationals and listed entities that must conform to international security regulations, the need has arisen to have internationally acceptable credentials,” said Mr Majoni.
“The company wishes to be a leader in innovation and offer well-designed convenient, safe and secure solutions that create added value for our customers.”
Chubb is the only company in the security equipment services to be awarded such a certificate. For the company to get the certificate, Chubb Safes products were subjected to a rigorous exercise, first going through the product test procedure at its engineering department and eventually a pre-license inspection .
Mr Majoni said the journey to Safes Quality Approval began in 1995 for Chubb Locks Union where the company Chubb Safes was part of a 10-man team that produced the Burglar Resistant Safes Standards ZWS 468:1995.
He said although the seal of approval was never applied for by Chubb Safes, the company continued to manufacture Safes according to the South African Bureau of Standard, owing to its affiliation to Chubb Safes in South Africa.
