adminBut no, that is a false picture as a war rages on between Zimbabwe and external forces ranged against this country to try to remove Zanu-PF and President Mugabe from the politics of this country and into oblivion through the regime change.
It is therefore proper and logical that in their fight back the people and party which brought independence and freedom to Zimbabwe, and have introduced policies progressively to take effective control of the
economy through indigenisation and empowerment, should spare no effort in disenabling the enemy to protect the gains of the revolution.
It is within that context that most Zimbabweans will welcome measures agreed to at Zanu-PF’s annual national people’s conference in Bulawayo last week to deregister media and cellphone companies that jump the gun by announcing preliminary results of general elections.
The practice is known previously to have left voters of ruling and opposition political parties in Zimbabwe and other countries on tenterhooks and poised for violent confrontation as they waited for the final tallies of ballots cast.
Recent elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo come immediately to mind as results released prematurely by people other than the official overseers of the poll caused violent clashes between rival political organisations jockeying for supremacy.
An unauthorised release of election results in this country in the past also created confusion and tension between supporters of Zanu-PF and MDC-T as wrong signals were sent out about the outcome of the elections.
It is no secret that some sections of the media in Zimbabwe work in cahoots with pirate radio stations that beam damaging propaganda against President Mugabe and the party that he leads, all in an effort to try to install a government by a party that is subservient to contemporary imperialists.
Surely it is only by the grace of God who loves this nation so much that the nefarious propaganda churned out against Zimbabwe has not ignited uprisings, as no doubt intended by the enemy.
The Voice of America’s “Studio 7 for Zimbabwe”, which is ironically run by sons and daughters of this country, appears to lead the pack of pirate stations that beam dangerous propaganda to the Zimbabwean people. And come to think of it, Zanu-PF officials and the party’s government ministers also give it credence by directly responding to that station’s propaganda, thereby legitimising its existence.
Is Zimbabwe still backward technologically to be unable to protect the citizens of this country by shutting out those negative broadcasts? Whatever the case might be, and if withdrawing licences from local media that work against the interests of this nation is one way of combating the propaganda onslaught, so be it.
It is an indisputable fact that some of the 2 500 NGOs plying their trade in this country are, in fact, agents of western powers that have a regime change agenda for Zimbabwe — and they push their project while masquerading as Good Samaritans.
Just why these hyenas in sheep-skin are allowed to enjoy Zimbabwe’s goodwill while sharpening machetes against a revolutionary people and their party is difficult to comprehend. Or is failure to weed out these tools of the enemy an eloquent statement of the powerlessness of the Zimbabwean people?
Ordinary Zimbabweans whose peace and stability and overall security are threatened by the enemy in their midst, are not impressed by complaints and mere threats from their leaders against the presence of anti-Zimbabwe elements; they want to see action taken to rid the country of such NGOs.
Our leaders should therefore be seen moving effectively and swiftly in their protection of the country and her people against all manner of destabilising factors. That way, they will earn the people’s unqualified support in the war against foreign machinations aimed at dividing, weakening and recolonising Zimbabwe.
