THE Amalgamation of Zion Churches in Zimbabwe (AZCZ) has called on Zimbabweans to vote for a homegrown party, in the mould of the ruling Zanu-PF, noting the need to defend the country’s revolution.
AZCZ president, Archbishop Mpendulo Dube said the ruling party had its roots in the people’s struggles and therefore remains the only party that could continue furthering the interests of the country in terms of development. The AZCZ is an association of various Zion churches with its membership committing to expressing through proclamation and programmes, the united voice of the church in Zimbabwe, especially in matters of national debate. Archbishop Dube reminded church members of where they came from and why they must back the revolutionary party.
“It is very important to know who you are if you are to be progressive in life. Following various challenges that the country has faced, we have seen people losing focus and siding with foes of the revolution. As a people, we all have our roots and we cannot abandon those roots because of hardships.

We need to have a situation where we dialogue for us to succeed as a country,” added Archbishop Dube.
He also urged young people with Zion churches’ background to embrace President Mnangagwa’s empowerment programmes for growth.
“It is very sad that because of sanctions and corruption by certain individuals in the public and private sectors our country has never seen much progress. It is the role of everyone, especially young people to come together and work with the Government in finding solutions that will see us grow in unity. Our young people in Zion churches always complain because of poverty and in the end lose focus, we are urging all youths to come out in numbers to benefit from various programmes that our President has put in place for young people. I am aware that there is a youth and women’s bank that is assisting with loans for young people who are into entrepreneurship,” he said.
The AZCZ president said, taking from the Second Republic policy of leaving no one or no place behind, their churches’ membership should seek to be part of all national developmental programmes. Archbishop Dube also leads Izenzo zabaPostoli Church in Zion which consists of more than 50 branches countrywide.
