Church offers free treatment

Herald Reporter
Celebration Church in conjunction with its national health team will today provide free medical services in Harare. The one-day outreach programme, which is being hosted by the church’s Westgate branch, encompasses consultation and curative services, health assessments and health education as well as preventive services. The clinics will be open from the morning until late afternoon at the Westgate Shopping Complex.

Organiser of the outreach programme Dr Farai Charasika said it was their mandate as a church to serve the community’s underprivileged and unfortunate who hardly access medical services. “One of our mandates is to minister to people’s spirit, soul and body. For us, this is one way we are showing the love of Christ by serving people’s physical being.

“We are simply following the example that Jesus Christ left us. He provided relief to people by practically ministering to their physical needs.

“In the same way, especially in this difficult economic environment where the majorities are unable to access some basic services, we aim to bring those medical services to them,” Dr Charasika said.

Dr Charasika added that the public would have an opportunity to consult with general practitioners, access medicine, specialist services, dental check-ups and assessments as well as health education. The public will also receive assistance on health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension (BP), cancer, HIV and AIDS, good nutrition and healthy habits.
