THE Seventh Day Church Hallelujah Revival Chorus, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, have made a significant contribution to the rehabilitation of inmates at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.

The two organisations have donated essential items and bankrolled a Vocational Bible Study graduation ceremony.

The event, held on Sunday, marked the successful completion of the Vocational Bible Study programme, which began in March this year. The programme, which combines spiritual growth with practical life skills, is aimed at rehabilitating inmates and preparing them for life after prison.

A total of 315 inmates, who participated in the programme, were awarded certificates at the ceremony.

In addition to the graduation, the HRC presented a donation that included 315 worksuits, 315 T-shirts, 349 buckets with towels, soap as well as two 5000-litre water tanks and one 10000-litre water tank.

Elder Musemwa, the guest speaker at the ceremony, said:

“This is truly a remarkable initiative, the generosity of the HRC and the SDA Church is a testament to the power of community support.

“These donations will make a huge difference in the lives of these inmates, not just today, but for their future reintegration into society.”

The acting ZPCS Officer in Charge at Chikurubi Maximum, Superintendent Maplan Kakoto, said:

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Hallelujah Revival Chorus for these generous donations.

“The water tanks will help alleviate the ongoing water challenges we’ve faced here for some time. This will undoubtedly improve the living conditions for our inmates and enhance their overall well-being,” he said. Pastor Mangena, the Chaplain of the Revival Chorus, said:

“It is very pleasant to see such a positive change in our brothers and sisters in prison. I want to commend them for their commitment to the Vocational Bible Study programme.”
