A CHRIST Embassy pastor has engaged the police in a campaign against criminals who have been terrorising the Msasa Park and Craneborne communities.
Pastor Tobekile Malandu, of the Christ Embassy Ministries Msasa Park Assembly, is leading a group of youths in the campaign.
Crime has been increasing in their community forcing the church to turn to the law enforcement agencies for an alliance against crime.
Police Community Relations and Liaison Officers, led by Harare provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, urged people to report any person suspected to be engaging in criminal activities as well as distributing drugs and substances.
“As ZRP, we are here together with Christ Embassy Ministries to send a message to this community that crime can be reduced and eradicated by its own people,” said Ass-Insp Mapisa.
“We are aware that the church is playing its role but when we continue to see people failing to repent, as police, we do not take it lightly.
“Police will not hesitate to arrest anyone found at the wrong side of the law.
“Cases of unlawful entry, rape, fraud and theft from cars have been increasing and that is why we decided to face this community together with the Christ Embassy church.”
One of the church members, Present Sungayi, said:
“If you do not decide to turn to God, surely, you will perish and some of you will grow old in prison.
“So, if you hear this word, never harden your heart but take a step of faith and God will change your life,” he said.
The Christ Embassy Ministries youths distributed flyers urging people to attend church services.
