Churches urged to partner Government

EPWORTH District Administrator, Benedicta Mubaiwa has encouraged churches to partner Government in bringing peace, unity and harmony in communities through developmental initiatives.

Speaking during a Christmas church service held at God’s Grace Ministries in Epworth where less privileged members of the community received food hampers, Mubaiwa emphasised that churches are key drivers in building communities and building dreams through the gospel which, brings about hope in times of distress.

“The church is a unifying force in which all members are equal in the eyes of God.

‘‘Through this we can realise that even in the Bible, Jesus was concerned with the well being of his followers up to a point that He at one point fed 5000 people from five small barley loaves and two small fish.

“The secret is He gave thanks and after that there was multiplication. On the same note these Christmas gifts might not seem big but it’s a sign of love to the less privileged.

“And as you give thanks, God will multiply whatever is there. It’s not about the size of the gift but the purpose of a giving heart that is aimed at making sure that we all celebrate the birth of Christ with a thankful heart and a well fed stomach,” she said

Founder of God’s Grace Ministries Prophet Ephraim Ziweya expressed joy as he gave away some of the hampers to residents.

“It’s a dream come true and a genuine fulfilment of the scriptures. Normally prophets are popularly known for just collecting money from congregates for various reasons without seeding back into communities but we are different.

“I thank the church for organising this event as we take care of the spiritual and physical well being of our members and the less privileged in society as instructed by the word of God,” he said.

Ingidzayi Mahumwe a beneficiary who has two physically challenged children said he was happy to receive the gifts from a church which he is not a member.

“This is wonderful I now believe in grace which is unmerited favour, personally I was not expecting such. My two physically challenged children, Blessing and Vimbidzai will have a pleasant Christmas through such a genuine expression of God’s love,” added Mahumwe.
