CRIMINAL investigation officers in Matabeleland South province will today take part in the annual DCIO sports gala set for the ZRP new complex in Gwanda.
The gala is meant to select a provincial team that will represent the province at the CID Coordinator Southern Region Sports Gala set for Bulawayo.
The City of Kings’ event will see Matabeleland South clashing with their Matabeleland North and Bulawayo counterparts.
According to DCIO Matabeleland South Chief Superintendent Max Maqandi, the officers will compete in netball, darts, pool, chess, volleyball (both men and women) and football for both men and women as well.
“It’s my hope that we’ll come up with a strong team that will represent us well in Bulawayo. I remain confident that the team that shall be selected will do the province proud,” said Chief Superintendent Maqandi.
He said three districts, Beitbridge, Gwanda and Plumtree are all set to be fully represented in all the six disciplines that will be on display.
Matabeleland South conquered all in 2014 and are looking forward to reclaiming the top accolade which Chief Supt Maqandi boldly declares as theirs.
“This year we’re going to be overall winners and this isn’t a threat but a fact,” he said.
