Cimas Health Group successfully held its annual Cimas iGo half-marathon Harare leg at ZB Sports Club yesterday, with the Bulawayo edition set for the 24th of November.
The month of November is meant to raise awareness on men’s health with special focus on prostate and testicular cancer.
The Harare event which saw over 1500 participants – from different age groups – taking part in the 21km, 10km and 5km races was held under the theme: “Men’s Health Champions Build Healthier Communities.”
Speaking on the sidelines of the half-marathon, Cimas Health Group’s chief executive officer, Mr Vuli Ndlovu said the marathon aligns with Movember initiatives, a global movement dedicated to men’s health awareness.
“We have done this event, in recognition of Men’s Health Awareness Month to bring attention to prostate cancer and other men’s health concerns. This is part of our humanitarian work of ploughing back to communities hence all proceeds from this event, will be donated to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe as our commitment to fight cancer,” he said.
The general manager of the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe Mrs Junior Mavu applauded Cimas for supporting vulnerable members of the community who are affected by cancer.
