Cimas Medical Aid Society in partnership with cement manufacturer Larfarge has launched a new low0-cost clinic at Manresa in Harare as part of its efforts to embrace innovation and industrialisation.
Speaking at the official opening of the Cimas clinic at Manresa on Friday last week, Cimas board member Mr Bart Mswaka said the clinic will provide healthcare to both Cimas members and non-members at a low cost.
“Cimas Clinic Manresa is one of the 12 primary care clinics operating under the Cimas Healthcare Services Division and is open to both members and non-members of Cimas.
“Cimas remains committed to ensuring that our members and the public in general receive quality and cost-effective medical care and this is the main reason why we began our journey of setting up Cimas healthcare clinics in all the major cities in the country,” he said.
He acknowledged Lafarge for developing an innovative idea of collaborating with Cimas to meet the growing demand for access to clinics at a manageable cost.
“Full credit must go to Lafarge because this is their brainchild. A while ago, we were approached by Lafarge to go into this joint venture, and the results, as you will see, have been nothing short of amazing.
“This has been made possible by the great working relationship we enjoy with our partner Lafarge,” he said.
Speaking at the same occasion, Lafarge CEO Mr Kaziwe Kaulule said as a company their need for periodic occupational health assessments and other wellness support had increased.
“We have been happy with the support we get from Cimas and the circumstances that led to the establishment of the Manresa Cimas Clinic are a reflection of a cordial and professionally aligned relationship.
“This approach is motivated by the company’s thrust to uphold employee health as a key enabler for productivity of the business as well as the personal success of our employees.
“The scope of the company’s wellness programme has equally grown thereby necessitating the need for on-site comprehensive health care,” he said.
“The company in 2016 took a decision to outsource the clinic with the strategic objective of providing a comprehensive medical package for the workforce and their families,” he said.
“When Cimas presented their proposal for the clinic, we found common ground in the ethos of the two organisations, that is our care for the people we serve.
“Their vision of the clinic elaborated a commitment to stellar healthcare for our employees, their families and the community at large,” said Mr Kaulule.
He confirmed that the clinic has the full package of facilities which supports health promotion and disease prevention for the business unit.
“The clinic has consultation rooms for immediate diagnosis and clinical management of patients, patient education, counselling and ongoing monitoring as well as an on-site doctor on a full-time basis.
“(In addition, the clinic has) a fully equipped pharmacy with adequate supplies of drugs, clinical supplies and equipment, good maintenance of infrastructure and quality services,” he said.
