CITY Football Academy director Agrippa Guti says his side’s tour to Zambia at the invitation of SuperSport Football Schools at Fallsway Arena in Lusaka was an eye opener and gave players the much needed international exposure.
The Harare based City Football Academy was invited to Zambia for a friendly fun football festival where they spent a week with their Under-eight, Under-11 and Under-15 teams.
Guti said the opportunity for the young players was important as they prepare for their upcoming trip to Dubai for the Gulf Winter Cup Tournament.
“We had a good time in Zambia where our Star studded under-15 who are no strangers to international football gave an impressive show, the team had Donnel Chitima leading the attack with Trust Muchemwa and Keith Mupupuni who scored a total of 12 goals in the four matches while Takudzwa Shatei and Martin Ndhlovu all maintained clean sheets. “City Academy Under-eight boys known as Comrades were unlucky as they lost all their four matches so was the Under-11 drew one game and lost three,” said Guti. Guti also thanked Petex Branding for their support in promoting grassroots football and urged other business entities and cooperate world to chip in and assist football development in the country. City Academy coach Sean Guthrie said he was impressed by the overall performance of the boys as they benefited much from the international experience.
