HARARE motorists will need to adapt to a new, fully digital parking system in parts of the city centre starting December 1, 2025, as City Parking rolls out its latest self-service initiative.
In a public notice issued earlier today, the company announced that selected sections of Third Street and Park Street will transition to an unmanned, self-service model. This move marks a major step in the company’s broader digital transformation strategy.
The designated zones are, Third Street, between Jason Moyo Avenue and Robert Mugabe Road and Park Street, between Jason Moyo Avenue and Samora Machel Avenue.
These areas will no longer be staffed by parking marshals, instead, drivers will be required to use digital platforms to pay for parking.
“As part of City Parking’s modernisation and digital transformation strategy, select parking areas will now operate on a self-service basis,” the company stated.
Motorists can pay for parking through several channels, that include, scanning QR codes posted on street signage, dialling the USSD code *192#, using the WhatsApp chatbot on 0719515601 and downloading the Park Assist mobile application.
City Parking said the shift is designed to leverage new technology for better service.
“These changes aim to enhance operational efficiency and improve the parking experience through the use of Artificial Intelligence and automation,” the notice read.
The company expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation as it implements these changes to modernise Harare’s parking infrastructure.
