City still believe they can survive

BULAWAYO City Football Club coach, Farai Tawachera remains optimistic his side will survive relegation this season.
City suffered yet another defeat when they lost 3-0 to Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.
The result left them second from bottom on the log standings and needing six points to escape a relegation. It was their fourth defeat on the trot.

With five games to the season end, Tawachera is not losing hope.
“Time is not on our side but we have to keep working and believing that we can do it. It’s very much possible to survive relegation,” said Tawachera.

He feels most of his teams struggles are owing to his players failing to take instructions.
“We, coaches can do everything and talk about the key points but guys go on to do exactly what we spoke against. To me the conversion rate is just not there. To be honest there is no week that we do not practice finishing at training but the conversion is just not there,” said Tawachera.

Four teams will be relegated to the Division One, making way for the champions of Northern Region Simba Bhora, Eastern Region’s Green Fuels, Central Soccer League’s Sheasham and Hwange FC from the Southern Region.

City, whose first dance in the topflight was in 2016, a season in which they showed hope and had their best finish (eighth), need to quickly turn around their fortunes if they want to remain in the league.

They survived the relegation axe by a whisker in 2017, finishing 14th.

Luck wasn’t on their side the following year when they were relegated after finishing 16th.
They however made a quick return to the PSL by winning the Zifa Southern Region Division One League in 2019. – @innocentskizoe
