The Bulawayo City Council has issued a public notice advising residents that stray livestock impounded by the local authority will be sold through a public auction next month.
In a notice issued in terms of Section 11 of the Protection of Lands and Natural Resources By-Laws of 1984, as amended, council said the sale will be conducted at the holding pen at Gum Plantation on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10am.
Bulawayo Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, said the move is in line with the city’s by-laws, which empower council to impound and dispose of stray livestock found roaming within municipal boundaries.
“We wish to advise members of the public that, in terms of Section 11 of the Protection of Lands and Natural Resources By-Laws of 1984, as amended, the listed livestock will be sold by public auction at the holding pen, Gum Plantation, on Friday, 13 March 2026 at 10am,” said Mr Dube.
He said the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to enforce municipal regulations and maintain order within the city.
Mr Dube urged livestock owners to ensure their animals are properly secured and do not stray into urban areas, warning that council will continue to enforce the by-laws without fear or favour.
Residents intending to participate in the auction have been encouraged to attend the sale at the stipulated time and venue.
