Cleansing ceremony for black spot

The Redcliff community is planning to conduct a cleansing ceremony at Redcliff Turn-Off along the Kwekwe-Gweru Highway — a black spot — as carnage at the zone continues unabated. Redcliff Mayor councillor Freddy Kapuya said the ceremony would cover the 10-kilometre stretch from Flyover to Redcliff Turn-Off.

“There is a stretch from Kwekwe town to Redcliff Turn-Off which has become a black spot. Week-in week-out, accidents are happening and people are losing lives,” said Cllr Kapuya.

“Both pedestrians and motorists are being killed in accidents taking place along that stretch. So we are going to conduct a cleaning ceremony soon to pray for salvation so that we don’t have such accidents,” he said.

Council, he said, was prepared to spearhead the cleansing ceremony, which is expected to include both church and traditional ceremonies. In the past week alone, three lives have been lost in two separate accidents at the black spot.
