Clogged drainages present driving poser

POOR drainage in Bulawayo’s city centre and some eastern suburbs saw some roads being waterlogged yesterday following rains that pounded the city.

The rains hit some parts of Kumalo, Ascot, Selbourne and Sunninghill forcing some drivers to park on the road side.

In the city centre the clogged storm drainage system did not help matters as the roads were flooded.

A Chronicle crew spoke to a pedestrian in Kumalo Ms Kimberly Ncube who was on her way to collect her daughter from school as she feared letting her walk alone.

“Because of the flash floods l cannot take the risk of letting my daughter walk alone from school. The road is covered with water and very slippery,” she said.

Ms Ncube said council should work on improving the water drainage system before the onset of the rains.

Council did not immediately respond to questions on the issue.
