HWANGE have vowed to shut down ZPC Kariba and bounce back to winning ways when they clash with the league debutantes at the Colliery this afternoon. As the Castle Lager Premier league marathon inches towards the halfway mark, Chipangano are eager to put their campaign back on track.

The miners have had memorable moments in the opening first quarter of the race but a sudden dip in form in the last two games in which they lost to Chicken Inn (home) and Caps United (away) has resulted in even some of their most loyal fans questioning their team’s pedigree to withstand the heat as the contest reaches the decisive stage where boys are separated from  men.

Brian Njovu, the Hwange assistant coach, in charge of Chipangano in the absence of Nation Dube who is in Harare for a two-week Caf A coaching licence, vowed to do much of his talking on the field of play.

“I don’t want to say much in the newspapers because we want to do much of the talking on the field of play. We are more than ready to bounce back to winning ways after those two defeats.

“The boys are fired up and every player is ready to play his part to ensure that we switch off the power station which has been dazzling opponents every week. In fact in other words we want to “load shed” ZPC Kariba in front of our home fans,” said a confident Njovu.

He said he had no injury worries ahead of this crucial clash against the league debutants who are yet to taste defeat this year.

The stage is now set for a mouth-watering clash as ZPC Kariba team manager Patson Ndabambi has declared that the power station lights will be shining brightly come end of the game.

“We are approaching the game with caution as Hwange are playing well at home, but for us every game is like an away match since we are lodgers in Harare away from our Kariba base.

“We respect Hwange but we don’t fear them hence we are determined to leave this place happy as we seek to garner all the points. Some of the games we have drawn this year we were supposed to win, hence I expect a big improvement tomorrow,” said Ndabambi.

“The other thing is that as ZPC Kariba, we work as a team from the technical bench to the players so we will continue shining this year as we want to end on a high note. We don’t rely on any individual player for glory,” he added.

Tembo “Chokri” Chuma, the goalkeepers’ coach will be in the hot seat as both Saul Chaminuka and his assistant Godfrey Tamirepi are also in Harare for the coaching course.

Hwange’s hopes are high especially with the return of midfield kingpin Rodwell Chinyengetere who had crossed the Limpopo River to undergo trials with Absa Premier league side Polokwane City.

The diminutive player did not feature in the losses to Chicken Inn and Makepekepe.

The home side will also bank on the likes of Evans Rusike, Alec Marime, Isaac Masame, Gilbert Zulu and Tafara Chese and Farai Vimisai to redeem themselves.

After the battle against the power generators, the coalminers will try to dig for more points in Harare against relegation threatened Harare City.

Today’s game will be screened live on Super Sport 9.
