DOUBLE congratulations were in order on Friday at the Epic Restaurant in Bulawayo where budding comedian, Frank Chirisa celebrated 23 years of life.
On the day, a flurry of Bulawayo creatives descended upon the food and drinks establishment, dishing out entertainment to patrons and helping Chirisa celebrate his big 23.
To Chirisa, this was a milestone but one that was plagued with wishes for a better life.
“I feel great, nervous and inspired really. I’m reminded of the song ‘Twenty-Five’ by Winky D. I thought I’d have certain things by 23, a lot.
“I thought I’d be stable, famous, rich and living the life but here I am, still trying to figure out my life,” he told Chronicle Showbiz.
Chirisa however said he will take responsibility for his life and do things right.
“For myself, my career, my family and my team, I will fight,” he said.
Maroosh, Mengezi Blake, Lynden and Ntando Van Moyo joined him in the celebrations.
The proverbial “Happy birthday” song was sung for Chirisa and he performed a 30-minute comedy piece to a rapturous standing ovation. — @MbuleloMpofu
