Comedian to revive Cotton Country Inn

Showbiz Reporter
ENTREPRENEUR and award winning comedian Carl Joshua Ncube has taken over management of Cotton Country Inn in Kadoma in a move expected to revive the hotel.

The comedian, who also hosts the Carl Can Cook cooking show together with his wife Nelsy, said taking over the boutique hotel was a culmination of a working relationship with the owners of the establishment.

“We started working with Cotton Country Inn for my comedy shows and then eventually aligned their menu for Valentine’s Day through Carl Can Cook.

“I then started helping them market the place via social media networking sites. The owners eventually gave me the go ahead to run the place. I took the offer and will start managing the property on March 1,” Ncube said.

The entrepreneur said he would not disappoint the owners of the property who have confidence in him.

“We’ve been working on this over the last couple of weeks and I love the fact that the owners believe in us and have given us a blank canvas,” he said.

On relocating from Harare to Kadoma, the comedian said: “The move is permanent. But it’s only two hours away from Harare and four hours from Bulawayo so you’ll see us a lot in both cities.”

Ncube hopes to turn around the fortunes of the hotel inorder to attract tourists.

“We’ve been given the leeway to do whatever we want with the place. We want to bring life to Kadoma so we’ll have weekly entertainment there and monthly comedy shows. We’ll also shoot our TV shows from there.

“I want it to be known as the place that serves good food, something that’s lacking in our hospitality industry. People can expect to get a new consistent product as we want to redefine service culture in Zimbabwe. We want to redefine tourism. Our property is about to become a tourist attraction,” Ncube said.

The comedian is no newcomer to the hospitality industry. Besides his cooking show – Carl Can Cook, Ncube has held successful food festivals which have attracted professional chefs from around the globe.
