the Zimbabwe National Army hosted the Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces executive interaction initiative, Harare Province Fun Shoot, which saw members of the army interact with ordinary people at Cleveland Rifle Range on the eastern outskirts of Harare over the weekend.

The primary objective of the initiative was to fundraise for the ZDFs’ four charities: Widows and Orphans Trust Fund, Schools Welfare Trust, Patients Welfare Trust and Benevolent Trust Fund.

The charities provide vital support to ZDF members and their families in need of social welfare, exemplifying the importance of communal support.

Presiding over the shoot, chairman of the initiative, Commander Harare District Garrison Colonel Richard Mapanda said the event was meant to create interaction between business, civilians and the army while mobilising resources for the army charities.

“The Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces executive interaction initiative was born out of a visionary desire to foster mutual understanding and cooperation between the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and the corporate world,” he said.

“In recognising the value of collaboration, the deep, long organisation searching effort by the ZDF was targeted at creating a platform that brings together corporate leaders in an informal setting conducive to building meaningful relationships.

“By doing so, the envisaged result was to bridge the gap between sectors and cultivate a spirit of unified collective progress.”

Besides fundraising, Col Mapanda said the initiative brought insightful innovations to improving livelihoods in underprivileged communities and individuals.

“We have been gathered here today to share insightful perspectives, exchange innovative ideas and nurture reciprocal understanding as we enjoyed shooting.

“This enriching exchange aims to foster collaborative partnerships within our shared community, ultimately driven by our collective commitment to improve the lives of the most vulnerable and underprivileged individuals,” he said.
