Government has once again made a commitment to continue implementing reforms meant to remove barriers to production and support the growth of businesses and entrepreneurship.
Addressing thousands of pilgrims gathered for the Johane Marange Apostolic Church’s Big Sabbath Service at the Mafararikwa Shrine in Marange, Manicaland province on Saturday, President Mnangagwa said Government will continue reviewing downwards fees and levies as it works to improve the ease of doing business.
“Our Zanu-PF party policies will continue to promote access to more economic opportunities, wealth creation, jobs and a better quality of life for our people,” he said.
President Mnangagwa challenged the Church to make loud its voice and encourage a culture of hard, honest work.
He said the country’s economic aspirations could only be realised if citizens across all sectors including religious communities actively participated in productive activities that create wealth, improve livelihoods and strengthen food security.
On its part, Government recently approved sweeping reductions in regulatory fees, licences and compliance costs affecting key sectors of the economy.
It revised downwards compliance fees for all local authorities and in some cases abolished levies and slashed parking fees.
The move is expected to not only boost businesses but also improve profit margins and promote investment.
President Mnangagwa has said Government will continue implementing bold policy reforms aimed at stimulating investment, accelerating industrial growth and creating jobs.
He commended the Johane Marange Apostolic Church for investing in key sectors such as education, entrepreneurship, skills development, sports, recreation and mining saying such initiatives were helping to improve livelihoods and stimulate economic growth.
He encouraged the Church to expand its empowerment projects which he described as examples of how faith-based organisations can contribute to national development.
“Let us all be frontrunners in building the Zimbabwe we all want, household by household, village by village, ward by ward and district by district,” said President Mnangagwa.
He said Zimbabweans should come together to build their country and put to shame the nation’s enemies. Government, which is working hard to create and enabling environment, has said it will not tolerate any conduct that frustrates progress such as sitting on documents.
We want, at this juncture, to urge every citizen to put shoulder to the wheel as we build a prosperous Zimbabwe to be enjoyed by present and future generations.
