SPORTS, Art and Culture Minister Andrew Langa has challenged the nation to work hand in hand with the local organising committee for the sixth edition of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Games to ensure that they are a success.

He urged the youths to actively participate in the preparations of the Games. He said there are a lot of opportunities from the competition.

“Successfully holding these Youth Games will give us an advantage over other countries in as far as the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) bid is concerned,” said Langa.

He emphasised the importance of the Youth Games being a success as it would reflect positively on the nation’s image.

“It’s very important that we hold these Games in a manner that will reflect the nation positively around the world and show our ability to host even bigger events in future,” said Langa.

He challenged the community to take up initiatives that will keep the city clean ahead of the Youth Games.
