Spokesperson for the elderly Ambu-ya Shupikai Maruku shared her excitement and gratitude over the food.
“We are happy that they have given us food as we have been struggling to eat proper meals lately. We thought we had been abandoned, this is a good sign that our children still remember that we exist,” she said.
HelpAge Zimbabwe Centre Administrator Mr Esbert Vheremu said they were facing various challenges in running the area.
“We are very grateful for what the companies have done, food in the area is a problem. When we plough our crops we need money to pay labour, sometimes we fail to put the whole 10 000 hectares under plough due to financial constraints,” he said.
Mr Vheremu said they were facing a major challenge of the building, which was now too old.
