THE Employers Confederation of Zimbabwe (Emcoz) has said some companies have expressed willingness to acquire Covid-19 vaccines for their workers.
Emcoz president Dr Israel Murefu told Sunday News that employers were working on acquiring vaccines for their workers.
“Employers are working on acquiring vaccines for their employees. We have a few that have acquired the vaccine like CIMAS Medical Aid Society but we are not very sure how they acquired them. But we have got a number of employers who have expressed willingness to Government to say they want to acquire vaccines for their employees.
Once all the procedures have been put in place, these companies have said that they are ready to roll out vaccination of their employees,” said Dr Murefu.
He, however, said he was not aware of individual companies that had started vaccinating their workers, but for CIMAS since it was a medical aid society, they had made their own arrangements to acquire the vaccines which they were providing to their membership and public at large. Dr Murefu said businesses have said they have funds set aside to acquire vaccines once the procurement procedure is outlined. Earlier this year, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) chief executive officer Ms Sekai Kuvarika told Sunday News that the industry was mobilising resources to vaccinate their employees and families.
