The National Competitiveness Commission (NCC) has adjusted the dates for the 2026 Competitiveness Summit to avoid a clash with the newly introduced Munhumutapa Day public holiday.
In a statement, the NCC said the summit will now run from 16-17 September 2026 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition and Conference Smart City in Bulawayo.
The NCC said 17 September 2026 will serve as the Official Opening Day, with the venue remaining unchanged.
The date change follows the proclamation of Statutory Instrument 148 of 2026, which declares 15 September of every year a public holiday to be known as Munhumutapa Day.
“The National Competitiveness Commission (NCC) welcomes the proclamation of Statutory Instrument 148 of 2026, declaring 15 September of every year as a public holiday to be known as Munhumutapa Day,” said the commission.
“The commission hereby advises all ministries, departments and agencies, speakers, panelists, moderators, delegates, exhibitors, development partners, sponsors, media fraternity, and stakeholders that the dates for the 2026 Competitiveness Summit have been adjusted, while the venue remains unchanged.”
According to the NCC, the summit will provide a platform for constructive dialogue among Government, business, academia, development partners, and research institutions on strategies to enhance Zimbabwe’s competitiveness and improve the ease of doing business.
The annual forum brings together policymakers and private sector players to review Zimbabwe’s performance on global competitiveness indices and agree on reforms to attract investment and lower business costs.
The commission urged all registered participants and stakeholders to take note of the new dates and plan accordingly.
“All registered participants and stakeholders are kindly requested to take note of the change and plan accordingly,” reads the statement.
