Compliance will avoid risks and corruption – PRAZ

PROCUREMENT Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Praz) is holding a two day Public Procurement and Governance Conference for Local Authoutities to promote sustainable social-economic development.

 

Running under the theme: “Collaborative Governance, Building Patnership for Public Procument and Local Economic Development,” the event brought in representatives from all local authorities across the country.

The conference is meant to promote compliance with Public Procurement Regulations to maintain accountability.

Officiating the event, the guest of honour, Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution in the Office of the President, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, said compliance will avoid risks and corruption, which has become challenge on tenders.

Eng Muguti has said corruption on tenders should end warning local authorities that the Office of the President is watching.
“When you do procurement, makesure you are not disafavantaging the general public,” said End Muguti.

He also warned land barrons to stop their illegal practices, saying that many of them would spend the Christmas behind bars.
