Concoction kills grandpa (67)

A 67-YEAR-OLD man from Chipinge died at the weekend after he allegedly took an unknown poisonous substance.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident, and said investigations to establish the circumstances leading to the death of Onias Mubhijo were still in progress.

“We received a report following the death of Onias Mubhijo who resided at Section 5 Compound, Ratings in Middle Sabi who drank an unknown concoction at his homestead,” he  said.

He said Mubhijo called his neighbour, Cosmas Banda at around 11am on June 9 and told him that he was feeling weak after he had taken the substance.

His unsuspecting neighbour then went back home to prepare a meal for Mubhijo to help him regain his strength.

“After about 30 minutes, Banda returned with the food only to find Mubhijo lying on his bed frothing at the mouth.” —Herald Reporter.
