Conference resolutions must deliver a prosperous Zimbabwe

The Zanu-PF 23rd Annual People’s Conference underway in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West province, is being held at a time when the country is enjoying many positives as a result of the Government’s economic policies that are improving people’s livelihoods.

The conference delegates’ task is therefore to come up with strategies and monitoring mechanisms to ensure that this momentum is maintained.

We have no doubt that the ruling party leadership gathered in Chinhoyi will come up with robust people-centred resolutions which will guide the party and Government for the next 12 months.

The First Secretary President Mnangagwa declared earlier this week that the era of passing resolutions which are not implemented is over.

It is therefore incumbent upon the party leadership to come up with a monitoring mechanism to ensure conference resolutions are turned into tangible results that benefit the people.

The investors’ confidence in the Government’s economic policies has seen increased investments in the different sectors of the economy and this momentum must be maintained in 2027.

This is only possible if the party leadership from grassroot to national level have a shared vision hence the importance of ensuring that the conference resolutions, which come from the people, are implemented.

The Second Republic has declared that Zimbabwe is Open for Business and supported this declaration by creating an enabling environment.

It is the responsibility of the party leadership at different levels to ensure the country is indeed “Open for Business”.

The Government has made a commitment to continue removing barriers that impede investment and business growth.

The ruling party leadership at various levels should assist in identifying such barriers in their respective communities and bring them to the attention of the Government.

In a move hailed by the business community, the Government, a few months ago, reviewed downwards licences permits, levies and other fees under its ease of doing business reforms but the implementation has been slow hence the need for a follow up by the party leadership.

The Government policies are heavily influenced and guided by the ruling party and as such the ruling party leadership should ensure that these policies are implemented at the shortest possible time to achieve the intended results.

This year’s conference should not pass as just another annual meeting but should mark a new chapter in our efforts to build the Zimbabwe we all want.

Delegates should return to their respective provinces, districts, wards and villages with renewed vigour to put shoulder to the wheel in order to build a prosperous Zimbabwe.

Guided by the unity of purpose, delegates who are the leaders of their respective communities, should lead from the front in mobilising people in their communities to work on Government projects and programmes meant to improve their livelihoods.
