A Congolese national who allegedly connived with his Zimbabwean counterparts to rob a Harare businessman appeared in court on Thursday with his accomplices on armed robbery charges.
The quartet of Gasper Blessing, Edward Betserai, Peter and Godknows Chisese appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded them in custody because they are facing a serious offence.
The court heard that on November 14 at around 2 am, the quartet, armed with an unknown pistol, drove to the complainant’s workplace in a Toyota Noah, registration number AEL 1171.
Upon arrival, they scaled over the precast wall to gain entry into the yard and confronted the security guard who was on duty and was seated in the car.
They handcuffed the security guard and left one of them guarding him while the others broke into the offices using unknown object.
The gang ransacked the offices and stole laptops, a deep freezer, a television, a solar inverter and lithium batteries.
They went away with the loot, leaving the security guard handcuffed. The guard was later freed by his colleague.
