Ghana’s founding nationalist party, the Convention People’s Party (CPP), yesterday joined the rest of the world in congratulating President Mugabe and Zanu-PF for winning the July 31 harmonised elections.The polls have so far been endorsed by the just-ended Sadc 33rd Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government in Malawi.
The African Union, the Africa Caribbean Pacific, Chinese delegation and some progressive forces, paving way for President Mugabe’s inauguration on Thursday. In a statement yesterday, the CPP founded by Dr Kwame Nkrumah in 1949, lauded President Mugabe and Zanu-PF defeating the forces neo-colonialism.
“The Convention People’s Party, with much pleasure, congratulates President Robert Mugabe and the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (Zanu-PF) for its resounding victory against the forces of settler colonialism and neo-colonialism in Zimbabwe, synthesised into the reactionary Movement for Democratic Change under the puppet (Mr) Morgan Tsvangirai.
“The people of Zimbabwe have spoken with a loud voice and they have spoken for the continuation of the Chimurenga through the policies of land reform, indigenisation, black economic empowerment and anti-imperialism.
“They have decided to continue to advance the great history of Munhumutapa, to uphold the pride, dignity, integrity, and struggle of martyrs like Mbuya Nehanda and to keep alive the national liberation struggle of freedom fighters like Kwame Nkrumah, Sekou Toure (Guinea), Amilcar Cabral, Modibo Keita, Augustino Neto (Angola), Ben Bella and Eduardo Mondlane.”
President Mugabe lived and worked in Ghana as a teacher and was associated with the CPP’s political activities.
The CPP said President Mugabe was a great freedom fighter and his example was supposed to be followed throughout the length and breadth of Africa.
“He has defeated the European settler colonial state of Rhodesia militarily and taken back the land for the indigenous people. He has engaged with the imperialists without betraying the interest of his people, demonstrating great intelligence.
“He has consistently outmanoeuvred the forces of neo-colonialism to continuously gain more control of the national resources for the people. He has consistently created policies based on the conditions in Zimbabwe, based on the experience and consciousness of the people such as indigenisation (51 percent minimum ownership of all banks, mines, factories and industries in Zimbabwe belonging to indigenous Zimbabweans by law), which illustrates independence of thought.”
The CPP said under President Mugabe, Zimbabwe has the highest literacy rate in Africa (with over 90 percent of Zimbabweans being able to read and write).
The party lauded President Mugabe for supporting other African states against neo-colonialism, such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo under Operation Sovereign Legitimacy and maintained support for the Libyan Socialist Jamahiriya while others were lining up for 30 pieces of silver.
He has prevented neo-colonialism from coming in through the back door by exposing the dependent and selfish nature of and winning elections against their surrogate, the MDC formations.
“We in the CPP recognise Zimbabwe as the only liberated territory in Africa today (based on the criteria set by Kwame Nkrumah in his book “Handbook of Revolutionary Warfare”), free from the domination of neo-colonialism, and we are working hard to join you in the very near future.
“We are learning lessons from your defeat of the MDC, and we must work together to defeat the MDCs throughout Africa and replace them with parties like Zanu-PF throughout Africa, to accelerate the movement for an African Union government for control of Africa’s resources for its people.
“We congratulate you again and seek to strengthen relations between our two parties as a step towards advancing the vision of our founder Kwame Nkrumah based on our ideology; Nkrumaism. We are confident that we find a solid comrade in Zanu-PF. Long live President Robert Mugabe! Long live Zanu-PF! Long live the CPP! Long live Nkrumaism! Long live African Unity! Death to imperialism,” the party said in the statement.
Meanwhile, the Affirmative Action Group has called on Zimbabweans to embrace President Mugabe and Zanu-PF policies and work together towards the lifting of illegal sanctions imposed on the country by the West.
In a congratulatory message to President Mugabe and Zanu-PF, AAG national president Dr Keith Guzah said Zimbabweans had spoken with one voice and what was needed was to work together for the development of the country.
“Once again, the people of Zimbabwe spoke with one voice, Zimbabwe will never be a colony again,” said Dr Guzah. “We now call upon all progressive Zimbabweans to embrace Zanu-PF policies as guided by the party’s manifesto and work together towards the lifting of the illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe.”
Dr Guzah said MDC leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai and his party should forthwith engage their Western handlers and denounce the sanctions imposed at their instance.
“The AAG stands resoundingly behind Zanu-PF party and will continue to advocate strongly for the small to medium enterprises to be given an opportunity to actively participate in the economic growth of the country,” he said.
The Women’s University in Africa also congratulated President Mugabe and Zanu-PF for garnering two thirds majority in Parliament in the harmonised elections on July 31. “As an institute with the mandate to address gender disparity, we are confident of your government’s support and political will in women’s empowerment issues,” the university said in a statement.
Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University said the institute fully supports President Mugabe’s legitimate indigenisation policies aimed at empowering the Zimbabwean people.
“May God, the Almighty continue to grant you wisdom and strength,” the university said in a statement.
Allied Timbers board of directors, management and staff also sent a message of congratulation to President Mugabe and Zanu-PF.
“As we commemorate our gallant heroes, the sons and daughters who died liberating this country from the yoke of colonialism, we exalt in the visionary leadership of President Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Zanu-PF in total indigenisation of the economy and total empowerment of indigenous Zimbabweans,” Allied Timbers said.
The National Manpower Advisory Council in their congratulatory message said: “We wish you the best at the helm of government and that under your wise counsel and leadership, the country will continue to enjoy peace and tranquillity as you implement the empowerment and indigenisation policies that impact on human capital development, which is necessary for the growth of the economy,” said the council.
African States and their leaders, leaders from other continents, observer missions and multi-lateral blocs have already sent congratulatory messages to President Mugabe and Zanu-PF over the thumping of the MDC-T in the July 31 elections.
