SOUTH African television personality Connie Ferguson has been confirmed as the guest of honour and guest judge at this year’s edition of Miss Universe Zimbabwe.

Connie will join the other six judges.

They are Miss Zimbabwe-Diaspora 2017 Roseanna Hall, Pan African executive banker George Nheweyembwa, Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2023 Brooke Bruk Jackson, award-winning luxury travel content creator and blogger Paloma Mlunjwana, former super model Tsungai Makwanya and Zak Hawa.

Miss Zimbabwe Universe national director, Tendai Hunda, said they delayed announcing the judges panel as the norm in the modelling industry.

“Our line-up of judges are reputable personalities in the field of modelling, and we are very confident they will bring the best result.

“Some of the judges have started arriving and the rest will be in tomorrow for the prejudging.

“This year, we want to do a pre-show on Friday night and the judges will also deliberate on their top three, which will then be announced on Saturday, in front of everyone, as they crown the new queen.”

Hunda said they were happy with how the finalists have been trained and equipped in the bootcamp.

“All the girls are beautiful, I am sure the judges will have a torrid time. This year’s show will run for two hours and I am happy with what I saw during the rehearsals.

“It is promising to be a good show.”

Hunda said radio and television personalities — Arthur Evans and Becky K — will co-ordinate the facilitation of the programme.

“Both are not new to the stage as they bring their A-game to the show. They have also started their dress rehearsal and it is looking amazing,” she said.

She also confirmed that musicians Enzo Ishall and Tammy Moyo will provide entertainment.

The nine finalists who will battle for the coveted title are Onesimo Nkomo, Samkhele Dhlamini, Charmaine Emmanuel, Chiedza Mhosva, Brenda Kadewe, Rumbidzai Muzopa, Annie Grace Mutambu, Talic Magaiza and Lyshanda Moyo.

This year’s top nine finalists are a diverse group of women and they include a town planner, healthcare professional, businesswomen, fashion models, entrepreneurs and a purchasing management student.

Among those returning to the big stage are Chiedza Mhosva, who was the Miss World Zimbabwe 2017, and Annie Grace Mutambu, who was Miss Zimbabwe 2015.

Chiedza is married while Nkomo is a mother who is based in Bulawayo.

Lyshanda Moyas is said to be engaged.
