Locadia Mavhudzi, Midlands Correspondent
Megafest Business woman of the year for Midlands province, Moreblessings Tshabalala Moyo has unveiled her recipe for success saying consistency and innovation has made her to become a top class business woman of the year despite the prevailing tough economic conditions.

Tshabalala revealed that she is proud of the award as it resembles the powerful business woman that she has grown to become. She is into the business of clothing and groceries. Chronicling her business journey, one would be made to believe that it only takes determination commitment for anybody to live their dreams.

“I started selling madhoiri in South Africa when I became a teenage mother at 17 years. At 21 I started running flea markets in Gweru. I was very energetic and aggressive to the extent that I would always be the first to rent at any outlet which I deem to be strategically positioned for business. I am not shy to tell you about the journey I have walked so far because it has also been my source of inspiration.”

She said she is proud to have survived the year 2020 considering that it has been a very difficult business year.

“The closure of borders has really made business difficult for us hence I had to divert from my traditional clothing industry to groceries, basing on the fact that for groceries we are sourcing inside the country.”

She highlighted that informal sector in Zimbabwe is currently facing many challenges which government needs to address.

“Our economy is highly informalised hence the government needs to channel resources to ensure that operational conditions are sustainable. Stabilisation of the local currency, pricing control and operational levies are some of the areas where we are lobbying as the informal sector that government need to look into.”

Tshabalala is a proud mother of three daughters and she believes in woman empowerment.

“I believe that women must uplift each other in business so that we create an empowered society.”
