THE construction sector has pinned its growth hope to the upcoming Africonfex, which is running concurrently with Mine Entra this year, with the sector saying this will give players enough platform to meet potential investors, clients, and suppliers who are also in the mining sector.

Organised by the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) company, the two events will be held from 8 to 10 October 2025.

Responding to questions sent to him by the Zimpapers Business Hub, Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association (ZBCA) president Dr Tinashe Manzungu said Africonfex is a conference that is mainly being held to harness the players in the construction industry, starting from contractors, quantity surveyors, engineers, and a lot more, including suppliers of equipment, material, and machinery.

He said it is the time of the year when players meet and converse on how they can improve the business environment in Zimbabwe.

“This year, Mine Entra and the AfriConfex are coming together. It is the same industry when I look at it, because even within the mining industry, it’s mainly construction,” said Dr Manzungu.

“Most of our companies, as contractors, are working within mines, and most of the mines also speak to contractors, because for them to have proper mining, they are speaking to us.

“Not only that, but so you will see that the equipment used in mining is similar in terms of their suppliers coming together with the same supplier of the construction equipment. So, this is just one equipment supplier coming to give the miner and coming to give the contractor the same equipment from the same basket.”

Dr Manzungu said this will bring ease of doing business with these two conferences happening once, which will be easy for suppliers of materials, suppliers of equipment, or equipment parts to come together.

“It’s going to be easy. So, we expect this to be a heated one. We expect to meet also the miners, the big companies that are now flocking to Zimbabwe,” he added.
