Consumers stranded as ZETDC finalises Zig transition

Consumers countrywide are failing to buy power tokens as the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) finalises the transition to the new Zig currency.

Since the introduction of the new currency last Friday, consumers have been unable to purchase prepaid electricity through the Electricity Vending System.

ZETDC, in a recent statement, acknowledged the inconvenience caused to customers and assured them that efforts are underway to restore normal service.

The implementation of the Electricity Vending System aims to facilitate the currency conversion process, which is nearing completion.

The lack of access to prepaid electricity has resulted in significant hardships for consumers across the country. Many households and businesses have been left without power, affecting daily routines and commercial activities.

ZETDC has promised to keep customers informed and provide updates on the progress of restoring normal service.
