Oh!!! How is your weekend? Greetings to you all. Well yours truly was in Mauritius and damn the country looks splendid. Yes I was rocking at the beach that you saw Beyonce and Jay Z shooting the video “Drunk in Love”. I was staying at the Trou Aux Biches Spa and Resort courtesy of Multichoice Africa.

Remember I used to read about Mauritius, the clear Indian Ocean and beach and here I was posing at the palm trees holding a coconut.

During my stay I met celebrities such as Rita Dominic, Micasa, Tiwa Savage, Diamond, IK, Majid Micheals, Chinedu Ikedezeu and the recent BET award winner Davido.

And yippee I won an Ipad mini after being voted the second best journalist in Africa beating other 79 journos across Africa. It would be naïve not to thank the cool fans who were always in touch with me and sending feedback.

Enough of this, back to reload.

What’s happening and topping this week. Winter’s up and down but you have to get rid of the flu. In fact prevention is better than cure thus make sure you have the jersey always. Let’s check our cool items this week.

The next super buttons
Hey did you know you can add multiple physical buttons to your android phone with Dimple. Chances are you’re used to working with smartphones using nothing but the touch screen display. And it’s great. But if you’ve ever wished you can have physical buttons for triggering certain functions on your device, you might want to take a look at Dimple.

An NFC sticker with multiple buttons, you simply stick it on the back of your phone (so it gets in close proximity to the NFC antenna), then use the accompanying app to assign functions to each one. Whether for launching specific apps, turning on the camera’s flash (instant flashlight), or quickly calling a contact, it gives users a shortcut to different actions that is much quicker than going through the standard UI.

Dimple comes in two variants: Mini (two buttons) and Standard (four buttons). The buttons are lined along a small Band Aid-like sticker that, while not exactly pretty, shouldn’t really ruin the phone’s aesthetics all that much.

It only works with Android phones and tablets that have NFC (obviously), with the exception of those with metal bodies like the HTC One (whose antenna location, apparently, doesn’t play nice with the sticker). The sticker is waterproof and requires no power source. The screen needs to be switched on in order for the buttons to work, although screen-off triggering is possible for rooted devices.

GI Joe sunglasses are actually not tacky
I didn’t have very high hopes for the new GI Joe movie, but I have to admit: it’s pretty awesome. Sure, it veers a bit too far into the Michael Bay school of action movies, but it’s a heck of an entertaining two hours that somewhat rekindled my love for the franchise.

And you know what happens when fully grown adults start reminiscing about the toys of their youth, right? They go dumb and buy merchandise intended for children.

Well, maybe that doesn’t need to happen now with these awesome GI Joe sunglasses hitting the streets. Made by Look or See, it’s a series of sunglasses inspired by GI Joe characters. Don’t worry – there are no tacky drawings of the characters, no cheesy novelty designs, and absolutely no inkling that these are made for children. In fact, they’re so tastefully designed that they’ll fit right in with all your adult clothes, your adult car and, probably, even your adult job.

They feature five designs: Cobra Commander, Destro, Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Each of the frames and lenses bear colourways reminiscent of the corresponding character’s costume, which makes it identifiable enough to spark some fan boy nostalgia without making you like an absolute dork all over again.

The best part? All the sunglasses come in GI Joe packaging based on the exact same way the original action figures were packaged, so it should bring back a torrent of great memories.

Till next week keep reloaded.
