A POLICE officer based at Luveve police station in Bulawayo allegedly assaulted and fondled two women at a kitchen party where he popped up uninvited.
Authur Ngwenya allegedly gatecrashed a party in Luveve and fondled the breasts and buttocks of two women before punching and slapping them.
He allegedly threatened to arrest people at the women-only shindig for holding a party that was not sanctioned by police.
Ngwenya appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube on Monday facing assault and indecent assault charges. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody to today for trial.
Prosecuting Keneth Shava told of how Ngwenya fondled and assaulted the women.
“On the night of December 6 in Luveve at around 9PM, Ngwenya crashed a kitchen party. He turned off the music and assaulted two women. Ngwenya also switched off the lights and fondled their breasts. He assaulted one of the complainants until she bled from the nose,” said Shava.
He said the victims did not seek medical attention following the assault.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Ngwenya’s arrest.
In his defence, Ngwenya denied committing the crime. “I understand the charges but I didn’t assault or indecently assault these women,” he said.
