Cop murder case: Defence cross examines State witnesses

The defence cross-examined the witnesses on the indications they made at the inspection in loco held at Glen View 3 Shopping Centre on Tuesday.
The prosecution initiated the inspection in loco in a bid to prove a case against the 29, while the defence took the opportunity to prove some alleged inconsistencies and contradictions in the prosecution’s case.
Mr Joshua Daka, Assistant Inspector Spencer Nyararai and Constable Solomon Mushaninga were questioned on the indications made on Tuesday in Glen View before a new witness Constable Yeukai Dehwe took to the witness stand.
She continues giving evidence today.
Cst Dehwe was part of the police reaction group that was led by the late Insp Mutedza.
She is now based at Chitungwiza Police Station.
Insp Mutedza was killed in May last year at the shops when he was trying to maintain peace. The incident occurred after a meeting by the MDC-T youths at Glen View 4. Justice Chinembiri Bhunu is yet to give a ruling on an application for leave to file a Supreme Court appeal by the 29.
The appeal is meant to overturn a decision by Justice Bhunu to deny them bail last week.
